Hair and makeup
In the ice dance scene Edward is seen by Kim creating an angelic ice sculpture, then as she opens the sliding door to enter the garden there is a second of darkness and then this white glowing light shines over her, it enables her to look innocent and pure. Her skin looks like she could have ever lasting youth and perfect skin, with no imperfections, her skin is glowing with a radiant glow she has the classic red lipstick which is used in most films. Edward is making an angel and the way that Kim is portrayed makes her like an angelic feature, matching the sculpture Edward is creating. The fact that Kim’s hair falls perfectly down her face and back compared to Edward who’s hair is messy, his face is covered in scars and dark circles around his eyes makes him look darker, less innocent and pale like a person on their death bed.
Character expression/movement
As Edward starts to create more snow Kim notices and slowly goes outside her emotions are neutral and suddenly as she enters the snow she becomes completely in love with it, this shows how comfortable she is with Edward and the love she has for him because at the start of the she was completely terrified of him and didnt want to be seen anywhere near him. The way Kim makes her way into the garden is very angelic within itself every step is smooth she starts to dance underneath the snow turning gracefully every movement is effortless and flows perfectly we see a shot where Edward is deep in concentration then it switches back to Kim being happy and pure he sees Kim is happy with what he’s doing so he carries on to create a positive impression. Although every movement Edward makes with his hands is very fast and jaulted we see Kim’s happiness in a smooth slow movement. The moment is then completely cut off when Jim makes Edward jump which results in Kim’s hand being cut by Edward. Which is purely out of shock to to attempt to hurt her.
