Wonder reveiw

Wonder (2017)

Just because Auggie (the main protagonist) didn't look like every other boy he gets strange looks. He was home-schooled all his life until now, he's going into middle school with all the 'normal kids.' Stephen Chbosky wrote and directed a touching story, where a young boy with a pure heart is judged for something we are born with, the emotion throughout the film is different in most of the scenes. The cast are a talented group of actors, the storyline is extremely eye opening and makes the audience think about how they treat each others, especially as we are all different in our own ways. The film is also extremely emotional, not just for Auggie, but for other characters, for each of the main characters there's a short section about how or why they're behaving that way, at the end of the film these characters have conquered most of their problems.

The antagonist Julian, who is a bully to Auggie because of the way he looks and makes everyone think negative things about Auggie, which clearly aren't true to the audience or any of the people who know him. As an audience we see later in the film when Julian and his parents are sat in the principles office it is evident that his parents are the bad influence who make him think a certain way because of the way they speak/ act around him. Which makes him act badly towards people who aren't 'perfect in every way.'

The setting / location that wonder is filmed either in Auggie's bedroom or outdoors, the sunlight (lighting) can be portrayed differently because outside it is brighter and slightly harsher. The hair and makeup is generally all quite equal, to show that no one is higher than another person. Apart from the scene where Julian's parents are in the principles office because they're wearing very formal, expensive looking clothes.  This could portray that they are (or at least think they are) more important than anyone else. The way the parents act in this scene is rather stuck up and cocky. (character expression / movement)
Personally I think that the films story line is to try and make people think about the way each person is treated also that in the end it shows that no one is that different from each other. e,g, people may have more money but we all have a similar heart and that we may look different from each other and still be a nice person on the inside and that's what counts in the long run.

As a conclusion, I would highly recommend this film for most ages because it shows a major part of the way society works and the background of why people act the way they do, the film is funny and sad but there's also happy moments that are entwined into many different emotions. I'd rate this film a 5/5 stars because every part of the film is good.
